Job Description

Lead Psychologist

Location: Exeter, Devon
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Part-time (0.6 WTE) – 22.5 hrs/wk
Specialty: Acute / Inpatient
Salary: ยฃ38,400

Mind Professionals are looking for an experienced Psychologist for part-time work leading the psychology department at an acute inpatient service, based in Exeter, Devon.

The post holder will be required to oversee the provision of the psychology service, and will be responsible for supporting the team in facilitating assessment/formulation interventions, and psychology groups in collaboration with the team.

Key Responsibilities:

– Participating in the assessment of referrals, and to provide initial assessment service users referred to the service.
– Undertaking high quality direct (assessment & therapeutic) and indirect (consultative, advisory, and evaluative) specialist psychological interventions and making autonomous clinical decisions.
– Working therapeutically with service users with complex presentations, undertake the assessments using a broad range of structured psychometric and semi structured clinical methods.
– Formulating and implementing plans of specialist psychological treatment or management of patientsโ€™ mental health needs based on a multi-factorial psychological understanding and current evidence based best practise.
– Professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of clinical work and care.
– Maintaining high standards of care in all areas of practice and in accordance the HCPC Code of Conduct, professional guidelines and Company Policies and Procedures.

Requirements:

– HCPC registration
– To have BPS recognised psychology degrees
– Have experience of applying psychological knowledge to a clinical setting
– To have experience working with clients with cognitive deficits
– To have previous experience of conducting research and project working
– Have understanding of evidence-based psychological practice
