Job Description
Locum Consultant Psychiatrist
Location: Oxford, Oxfordshire
Contract: Locum – ASAP start, ending late December
Hours: Full-time
Specialty: Acute Mental Health / Adults / Inpatient
Mind Professionals are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist with S12 approval and AC status (or eligibility for them) for full-time locum work with working age adult males.
The post holder will be working in an Acute Inpatient Mental Health ward for working age men, based in a mental health centre in Oxford, Oxfordshire.
Key Responsibilities:
– Provide senior medical input and clinical leadership to Phoenix ward. The post holder will have responsibility for those patients seen by them, together with those patients seen by medical staff directly supervised by the post holder.
– Work alongside the ward managers, modern matrons and the other Consultant Psychiatrists in the service to ensure the effective functioning and development of the inpatient service.
– Provide direct clinical supervision and line management to the speciality doctors and any residents placed with the team. This will include 1 hour per week psychiatry supervision for each resident in an accredited training post. In addition, clinical supervision needs to be available daily for medical residents and a pro rata equivalent level of supervision needs to be provided for speciality doctors.
Requirements:
– Full GMC registration and licence to practise
– Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent qualification
– Eligibility for Section 12 approval
– Approved Clinician status, or eligibility for it
– Experience of the full range of clinical responsibilities expected of a consultant in this specialty.
– Experience of close collaborative work with social care and other agencies.
– Higher specialist training in psychiatry in approved training post for a minimum of three years, equivalent training in another country, or previous consultant experience relevant to th
