Locum Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (Band 7)
Location: Thornton Heath, London, Greater London
Contract: Locum – ASAP start, 4 months
Hours: Part-time (22.5 hrs/week)
Specialty: Neurorehabilitation / Community
Mind Professionals are looking for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist for part-time Locum work in Neurorehabilitation, working across both Community and Hospital settings, based in Thornton Heath, Greater London.
Key Responsibilities:
– At a Highly Specialist level to assess, develop, treat and discharge adult clients referred with communication and swallowing difficulties.
– The post holder will be based within a community neurorehabilitation team and will be expected to work in a variety of settings including community bases, the patient’s own home and hospital settings, as required.
– To work as a member of a community neurorehabilitation team, to provide an efficient, effective and co-ordinated Speech and Language Therapy Service.
Requirements:
– Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
– Health and Care Professions Council – Licence to Practice
– Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapist
– Evidence of successful completion of specialist neuro SLT short courses up to Master’s degree equivalent
– Significant substantive Band 6 SALT experience, including within the NHS demonstrating experience working with patients who have had a Stroke and with a variety of other neurological conditions.
– Experience working with adults with neurological conditions in a community setting.
– Experience of supervising staff.
– Well-established knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools relevant to clients with Stroke and other Neurological problems.
– In-depth knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions relevant to clients with Stroke and other Neurological problems and an ability to compare and contrast relative benefits.
