Job Description

Locum Non-Medical Prescriber (Band 7)

Location: Across Staffordshire
Contract: Locum
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hrs/week) – 09:00-17:00
Specialty: Substance Misuse

Mind Professionals are looking for a Nurse with a Non-Medical Prescriber qualification, and experience in Drugs and Alcohol, for full-time locum work as a Non-Medical Prescriber, working across Staffordshire as part of a Substance Misuse service.

Key Responsibilities:

– Delivery of regular Independent NMP clinics weekly depending on the service need
– Provide expert support to new NMPs and all prescribing, nursing and recovery staff
– To support the development of non-medical prescribing countywide with the Clinical Lead
– Provision of healthcare treatments and procedures (including health screening, blood borne virus screening) for people accessing our service in line with the public health and wellbeing agenda
– Support and train staff in substance use disorder and alcohol related disorders
– To provide clinical supervision on a monthly basis to staff in the absence of Clinical Lead
– To line manage nursing/recovery staff as required
– To deputise for the Clinical Lead in their absence

Requirements:

– NMC registration
– Independent Non-Medical Prescriber
– Nursing or Pharmacist qualification
– Experience working as an Independent NMP within a Drug and/or Alcohol service
– Significant demonstratable experience of harm reduction approaches to working with people who use substances
– Excellent knowledge of physical health, mental health and wellbeing
– Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
– Excellent understanding of medicines prescribed in substance/alcohol abuse use disorders and their side-effects/adverse reactions
