Locum Occupational Therapist (Band 7)
Location: Wanstead, London, Greater London
Contract: Locum – ASAP start, 3 months
Hours: Full-time – Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00
Specialty: Adult / Autism
Mind Professionals are looking for an Occuapational Therapist with qualification in Sensory Integration or with prior relevant experience (and in-post training), for full-time locum work as part of an Adult Autism service, based in Wanstead, London, Greater London.
Key Responsibilities:
– To lead the occupational therapy provision within the adult autism service.
– To take a lead role in the development and management of the pre-diagnostic and brief post-diagnostic service provision.
– To lead on providing pre- and post-diagnostic support, in particular specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions, including those addressing clients’ sensory needs and their impact on daily living.
– To undertake occupational therapy assessments, including assessment of function, occupation, sensory processing and executive functioning, and work with clients to help them develop skills and strategies to improve their function and quality of life.
– To provide consultation and liaison to other professionals working with autistic individuals.
– To work as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team.
Requirements:
– Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy, with current HCPC registration.
– Qualification in sensory integration or equivalent experience and in-post training.
– Experience of working as an occupational therapist in a range of clinical settings.
– Understanding of the specific communication difficulties experienced by individuals with autism and ability to adjust communication to meet their needs.
– Good understanding of the needs and difficulties experienced by autistic adults.
– Knowledge and experience of working with complex mental health problems.
– Understanding of clinical risk assessment and management.
