Job Description
Locum Psychologist – Band 8A – Adolescent Care – Newham
Position: Psychologist Band 8A
Service: Adolescent Care
Location: Coborn Centre, Newham
Rate: Negotiable
Hours: Full time and Part time (3 – 4 days/week) available.
The candidate will join a team of Psychologists as well as Arts Therapists, Family Therapists and Occupational Therapists to form the Therapies Team at the Coborn Centre for Adolescent Mental Health. This unit has a Psychiatric Intensive Care, General Adolescent Unit and Day Service for young people from 12-18 years old with significant mental health concerns.
The therapies, nursing, medical and social care team work collaboratively with young people, their families and wider networks to assess and provide holistic therapeutic interventions for young people and families in crises. The successful candidate will have strengths in adapting therapeutic interventions to young people and families and working closely with a broad range of professionals with a range of expertise and perspectives.
The role encompasses comprehensive assessment skills using the integration of a range of therapeutic models and risk formulation skills. The candidate will have opportunities to work across various areas of the provision as well as taking a lead across one area of the provision with support from our highly skilled multidisciplinary team and through supervision from the psychology team.
The candidate would need to be flexible in their approach and passionate about working with a broad range of young people and families, presenting with various strengths and difficulties. Cultural awareness and curiosity to meet the needs of diverse population of young people and families we cater for would be essential for this role.
