Job Description
Locum Senior Occupational Therapist (Band 6)
Location: London, Greater London
Contract: Locum – ASAP start
Hours: Full-time – Monday-Friday, 9-5, 37.5 hours per week
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist for Locum work on a 19 bedded unit that offers care and treatment for male and female patients over 75 years of age.
Key Responsibilities:
– To manage a caseload of service users with complex needs, using evidence based /client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
– To provide leadership for junior staff, through supervision and appraisal.
– To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of OT services within the identified service people in-patient services across Kingston & Richmond, holding responsibility for defined projects
– To contribute to the maintenance and development of the Trust OT Service
– To regularly supervise OT students on practice placement
– To promote Recovery & Social Inclusion
– To contribute to streamline working (from admission to discharge) in keeping with the principles of the Older People services Care Pathway.
Requirements:
– HCPC registration
– Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy
– Evidence of post registration training relevant to mental health practice
– Training in the theory and application of the model of human occupation within the first 4 months of appointment
– Experience of carrying a caseload in a mental health setting
– Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
– Experience of individual and groupwork
– Developed interpersonal skills enabling therapeutic alliances to be developed & maintained with service users who have multiple & complex needs
– Ability to promote & maintain the profile of OT within an MDT & the wider organisation
